Mental Health Awareness Training

As part of an on going commitment in raising awareness of mental health within our work place, this October saw another company wide awareness course delivered by ACAS Working for Everyone. ACAS have previously carried out training for our employees to help them spot signs of mental health struggles. On this occasion they were here to share their wisdom on ‘Mental Health Good Practice and the Law’.

The session saw 12 different employees attend from across the brands of Centaur, Tamlex, RPP, M2 and Proteus. The employees are from a variety of different levels within the company including Management Trainees, Supervisors, National Sales Managers and Factory Managers. This variation ensures as a business we are better equipped at spotting the signs as well as providing employees with suitable people to reach out to if needed. Participants of the 3 hour training session are highlighted to all employees as someone to talk to.

Speaking to some of the employees who took part in the training session, it was interesting to hear their thoughts;

“I enjoyed the course because it made me think about both sides of mental health and how we can help better understand what people are going through.

It was also informative on the legal aspect and how to deal with certain situations in the workplace.”

We are grateful to ACAS for delivering the course and to our employees for taking the time out of their busy working days to participate. Mental health is an important factor within all of our lives and it is extremely important that we promote a culture where people can raise their concerns and speak out. Following these courses from ACAS we now have the people within the organisation who can help and also spot the signs of someone struggling and encourage them to talk.
