50 Years of British Manufacturing

Centaur are proudly celebrating five decades of British Manufacturing. Established in 1974 in Redditch, Worcestershire, our name has become an industry standard for the supply of PVCu cable management products.

Centaurs’ journey has been a story of continuous innovation and desire to meet and exceed customer expectations. Founded to manufacture PVCu channel and oval sections alongside switchgear and injection moulding, Centaur successfully increased their product offering to incorporate conduits and fittings.

Following this success, Centaur developed the ‘Super-Clip’ lid and produced a range of mini and maxi trunking.

To cope with the growing demands of the market, Centaur moved to their current location in 1987.

The new facility more than doubled the manufacturing footprint. Investment continued with new extrusion lines, PVCu mixing plant, testing, cutting, and bending equipment.

In 1992, Centaur launched the popular President dado system, one of the first three compartment trunking ranges. Further investments followed, the Campus range in 1996 and the Kensington range in 1999.

In 2003, we launched our Bench trunking and accessory system to meet the needs of the educational and healthcare sectors.

2011 and 2012 saw further significant investment in extrusion lines and injection moulding machines to ensure sufficient capacity and flexibility to meet the growing demand.

The Meridian three compartment dado trunking system was launched in 2015 to give a modern mid-size option ensuring all requirements are catered for.

Investment continues, in 2024 a new extrusion line and material blender will be installed, increasing capacity and confirming the on-going commitment to grow and develop the business.

Upgrading of cutting and forming equipment has enhanced the capability to deliver bespoke customer requirements. This special fabrication service emphasises our commitment to providing customers with what they want, when they want it.

A complete overhaul of the PVCu mixing plant has been carried out ensuring an on-site, consistent, and flexible supply of raw material.

From 1974 to date we have continually listened to our customers and delivered a diverse range of products to meet market requirements. This continues to be our approach, ensuring we support the changing, evolving industry we serve and maintain our position at the forefront of PVCu cable management supply.

In addition to our customer focused approach, Centaur also recognise their environmental responsibility and work proactively to minimise the carbon footprint. Significant investments have been made in equipment to aid the processing of recycled materials along with the introduction of re-cycled packaging. Having both Plant Mark and Ecovardis accreditation confirms our commitment to a more sustainable future.

We couldn’t celebrate this 50 year achievement without extending our heartfelt appreciation to our workforce, who have been the backbone of our success. With lengths of service upwards of 45 years, their loyalty and hard work has shaped the business we celebrate this year.

As we extend our gratitude to all who have played a part in our first 50 years, we eagerly await the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
